Emma's Vt Baby Shower

On July 7th, my Mom threw me the most incredible baby shower! It was such an amazing day, surrounded by family and friends, some that we haven't seen since the wedding! It was hard to believe that 2.5 years ago we were all together for my bridal shower....now the same group of ladies were all together again for my baby shower!

Most adorable invitation!
Words can not describe how perfect everything was. So many people contributed to make it such an amazing day for me and I am so grateful. Just to name a few names....Morgan created the most adorable fruit creation (thanks to Pinterest!). Tina was in charge of all the games. Mary-Jeanne and Maureen made the spinach balls (yum!) and my Aunt Mich supplied most of the alcohol and was a HUGE help setting up. Debby insisted on making her famous brownies. My Dad & Matthew made sure the house and yard looked incredible. And of course my Mom and Emily were the masterminds behind it all.

Emma received so many precious gifts. I didn't think I would get emotional opening gifts like I did during my bridal shower but boyyy was I wrong! The first gift I opened that made me choke up a bit was a gift from Robyn & Cameron. Amongst all their adorable gifts was a recordable book for Jeff to record for Emma while hes gone...being in the military he is gone all.the.time and he can leave at any time for a 'longer amount of time'. I thought it was the most thoughtful and heart-touching gift ever. I don't really like to think or talk about raising our children in the military because it is a hard subject to grasp. I just like to take it day by day and deal with things as they arise, its the only thing you can really do. So obviously not talking about it, I feel like my friends and family don't grasp how different it is and how hard it can be. But Robyn, being the amazing person she is just knows, hence the book.

What really made me bawl was my Memere crocheted a beautiful pink blanket (which matches her nursery perfectly!) and put together a photo album of my baby pictures, pictures of my parents, and had a beautiful inscription in the front, "Started with love, continued with love everlasting, moments in time. -Love Memere & Pepere"  I still get emotional thinking about it.
They also had this beautiful sign made
Meredith made me cry too. She gave Emma a beautiful Tiffany's piggy bank but what she wrote in the card really made me emotional. She wrote "I hope Emma has a best friend just like I do." Meredith and I say we were best friends since before birth. I was born in June and she was born in September, and we were friends ever since. Its really rare to be able to say that, and I truly cherish our friendship and our 'sisterhood' and wish that for Emma.

Emma is a lucky little girl!
And just when I thought I was done being emotional, I opened my Mom's gift. My Mom cross-stitched Emma's birth sampler which was the same pattern as mine and of course brought me to tears because it was so beautiful, thoughtful, and so sentimental.

I couldn't have asked for a better day. What made it even more special was having Jeff there. He was across the country for my bridal shower so it was sooo nice having him there to share the excitement with.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who helped make my baby shower SO special. Emma is so lucky to be coming into a world filled with such love and support. We can't wait to share her with everyone!

Baby Girl Has a Name!

Yes!...baby girl has a name!

* Drum roll pleaseeee! *

Emma Lynn Bender
A couple years ago, like even before we were married, Jeff had a dream that we had a baby girl named Emma. So since then the name has kind of stuck. Its just so crazy that we are pregnant with a girl! We like to say, all our dreams are literally coming true!

Her middle name, Lynn, comes from my middle name, Lynn! Plus it just sounds so pretty and Southern!

We're biased, but we think its the perfect name for our little peanut!

Vt Here We Come!

On Friday, June 29th, we started our journey North! I had been anxiously awaiting that day for weeks! I had also been mentally preparing myself for the ride because being 24/25 weeks pregnant I knew it was NOT going to be fun or easy. Knowing that I literately have to use the ladies room every 20 minutes I figured we would get there at some point next year. However, I am pleased to report I was an AWESOME traveller! We stopped about every 2.5/3 hours to let Lex out, me use the restroom, and get Jeff some coffee.

We made it to Ft. Bragg, NC in about 7 hours to visit a friend and stayed the night. Saturday morning we got up early to start the next part of our journey to New Jersey. What should've been about a 10 hour drive turned into the ride from hell. Apparently the night before, a huge storm had passed through the VA/MD/DC area and knocked out ALL the power. This storm created complete chaos. We were in stand-still traffic for hours and our gas-tank was getting dangerously low. We got off every other exit  in hopes of finding gas, however NO ONE had power....so therefore no one had gas. When we were down to 8 miles left in our tank, we finally found ONE gas station that had power. To give you a mental image....think of an 'end of the world' movie and that is what we experienced at this gas station. People were going nuts. Anyways fast forward 12.5 hours, we finally made it to Basking Ridge, NJ and had dinner with Jeff's family.

FINALLY. Sunday morning we were on our last day of traveling. VT was so close I could taste the fresh air. Thankfully, it was an easy day of traveling and we made it to my parents house just in time for dinner!

We spent the week just relaxing in VT which was much needed after our journey and Jeff being so incredibly busy at work. It was so nice to just have him hanging out, stress-free, with minimum cell phone service :) For the Fourth of July I was so happy to take Jeff to Randolph's 'annual parade.' It is quite the experience for anyone not from the area. Lets just say our idea of a 'float' is cows or trackers.

24 Weeks!

Sorry.....24 weeks had no real updates. Probably why we forgot to take a picture. That week was filled with getting ready for our big trip up North!

Our little Peanut!

I just realized I forgot to post baby girl's ultrasound pictures! Here is our sweet baby girl at 22 weeks!

Most beautiful little girl!

A little foot! She has all her toes!

A little hand! At first we thought she was 'flipping' us off, but she was just pointing. And yes, she has all her fingers!

Those are my favorite 3, I will spare you all from the 30+ that we have. But seeing her on the screen was the most incredible thing I have ever seen. Jeff & I were so mesmerized we couldn't stop watching. All her little movements were so sweet. We even watched her swallow! So incredible how technology has enabled us to take a sneak-peek at our little princess!  I don't know why but I didn't realize how nerve-wracking ultra-sounds can be. Before you are actually pregnant you just assume everything is going to be ok, you don't realize all the things that can go wrong. Once you are actually pregnant you realize, learn, and think about all the things that could happen. Is she going to have all her fingers and toes? Is she going to have a cleft-palate? Is a vital organ not developing properly? Thankfully our baby girl is developing beautifully. It really makes you stop and think about how life is such a blessing and I thank god every day for my life, my health, and my family's health.

Whoops

Well I neglect my poor blog for what I think is only a few weeks...and boom its already mid-August! Guess thats what happens when you hit your third trimester and all you want to do is sleep.

But here we go! Lets catch up on the past 10 weeks!
